| Specialization Although I work with people on a wide range of issues, the issues I work with most frequently include:

| Appointments I schedule appointments for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. I have evening availability on Tuesday and Wednesday until 6 or 7 pm. However, please note that my evening hours are requested more frequently and it is often easier to schedule time if you can come in during the day. Therapy Sessions Assessment and therapy sessions last 50 minutes. Generally, the appointment starts on the hour. In the initial session, I will ask you about your concerns, the history of your concerns, your current life, relevant family history, and goals. We will also talk about any questions you might have and develop a plan collaboratively. In subsequent sessions, your initiative is important so that we can get a more in-depth understanding of the problems we are exploring. My approach to therapy is based on the idea that current difficulties are often rooted in unresolved feelings, thoughts, conflicts or coping styles from the past. I help people understand the patterns in their lives and connections to the past so they can live their lives more effectively in the present. I also believe that interpersonal problems can be reflected in different parts of your life. A problem from the present may have existed in the past and it may occur in the therapy. Therefore, the therapy relationship itself is often a tool for change. It is also important that you work on your issues outside of the session. Often, the work of change involves practicing or thinking about a behavior outside of a session. This "homework" can help deepen the progress that you make. Examples of such homework could include: reading about or journaling or experimenting with various behaviors. Therapy most often ends when the client experiences some relief from the concerns that brought them in. We discuss the ending of our work together and what to do in case of relapses. |
